To our family-owned farm. We raise registered, purebred 100% Berkshire hogs - the source of the famed Japanese Kurobuta pork. Our animals are raised naturally and treated humanely. We do not use nose rings, and we do not clip tails or baby teeth. Our animals are free to move about and to form their own associations.
You are what you eat and so are our hogs. During the summer our pigs are pasture-raised on clover or other legumes, supplemented with ground corn, soy meal and a vitamin mixture. We prepare all our feed on site so that we know precisely what our pigs are eating. In the Fall our hogs are free to roam the woods for acorns and hickory nuts. We do not add antibiotics to our feed and all of our butchered hogs are antibiotic-free. The only time antibiotics are used is for our breeding stock if they are ill. We do not feed our hogs steroids, growth hormones or animal products. |
